Wha Wha In The Butt!

Because everything's funnier. In the butt.

Ok, this site further goes to show that I do indeed have the sense of humor of a 6 yr old boy. I'm ok with that.

And I love True Blood so I had to post the pic of the tagged True Blood poster. Good god, that show is good.

Marina And The Diamonds - I am Not A Robot

Teachers Paid to do Nothing?

Let's all get hired as teachers and try to get fired! Who's with me?!

Get this, so teachers' contracts make it so hard for the city to fire them, that the city banishes them to the "rubber rooms" (or temporary reassignment centers) if they get into trouble instead. The teachers stay there for however long it takes to figure out each individual case (usually months to years)!

While in the rubber room, teachers keep their normal working hours, get holidays and summers off and get paid their full-time, regular wages. Except they're not teaching, they're just sitting in a room for 8 hrs a day, doing whatever they please.

700 teachers or so, who on average make about $70,000 a year, are banished to the rubber rooms. Which means the taxpayers of NYC end up paying about $65 million a year on them. Crazy!

Of course that's the short of it, so click here to read in more detail about it.

Dumb Dumb and Dumb

You've got to be kidding me!! Did that woman seriously just tie a dog up in her belt?!

Apparently, this is a real thing and is called, wait for it..... a dog fanny pack. Here's the description I found about it:
"If you have a small dog and don’t feel like leaving it at home while you are out for a run or a brisk walk, you can bring it with you in a Pooch Fanny Pack. This innovation promotes a healthy lifestyle for both you and your pooch."
Wait, I'm sorry, but if you're going on a brisk walk, why would you not take your dog out with you? Dogs are made for walks! And how in the world does hooking your dog to a belt on a walk promote a healthy lifestyle for an animal? It actually looks like it's being squished to death, which I would venture to say, is not very healthy.

This is so utterly ridiculous it's got to be fake, right?

E-Mails From An Asshole

My new favorite website is called Dont Even Reply and it's amazing! I know I say a lot of things are amazing, but this site really is.

Basically, this guy finds ads on Craigslist and then fucks with the people who posted them. via email Then he posts the responses on the site. Here's one from today...
Somehow this woman knew exactly what I was trying to do.
Original ad: litter of 5 kittens. two orange, two black, one mixed-grey. all are three weeks old and looking for a good home!

From Yin Chang to *********@***********.org

hello i buy all kitten you have. how much? - yin chang

From ************@hotmail.com to Me
Sorry. These kittens are not being sold for food.

I posted that one because it was the shortest, but there are some other gems on there too, like this one about a cheap car (my personal favorite) or the grandma babysitter or the prick of a husband. Enjoy!

The Gossip - New Music

The Gossip has a new album, Music For Men, coming out tomorrow on Columbia. The whole album is streaming over on Spinner and I suggest you take a listen.

I really like the album so far - haven't heard anything on the same level as 'Standing in the Way of Control' yet, but I'll give it time. Men is very dance-y and Beth's voice sounds amazing, as always. Girls got some pipes on her.

Listen here.

This Is Vandalism??

An NC State student, Joseph Carnevale, stole a few traffic barrels from a construction site and created a massive sculpture of a roadside monster hitching a ride. He accurately described his work as 'street art'.

Turns out the police didn't, of course, because they arrested him and charged him with vandalism.

The funny/best part about this is that the company who makes the barrels won't press charges against him, and instead want to hire him to recreated the monster outside their office headquarters.
"We've had a fair amount of vandalism, but have never had anyone turn it into art," Company President Steven Hussey said. "I actually thought it was pretty neat....it's been positive publicity for us, if we'd known he'd do that good of a work, we'd have given him the barrels."
Street Art - 1, Police - O!

BFF

The 9th Annual Bicycle Film Fest is going on all over the country this summer and it's hitting NYC this weekend.

Now that I've finally finished building my bike, I figured I'd hit this thing up and try to learn a thing or two about my new ride and check out a few films. Mostly though, I'm hoping to spot the letters from the video above...how adorable are they.

Blog to Check Out - Nubby Twiglet

I discovered this wonderful blog, Nubby Twiglet, recently and fell in love with it. Nubby, a graphic designer, runs the blog and whose goal with it is 'to deliver inspiration and content related to art, design, business, fashion, and style'. Which she does, and does very well!

Her design aesthetic is fantastic - simple but never boring, she offers good advice on design and blogging related matters and just has a great eye for detail and exciting design in general. The fact that she is all about black, white and red (my favorite color combo) is just icing on the cake.

The weekly columns are entertaining and keep me coming back to the site time and again. The Typofiles is a type-related inspiration column, the LinkLove column is updated every Thursday with diverse and always interesting sites and articles, and I can always find something I like in the Decor Notebook.

It's definitely a site worthy of checking out!

Saw a Little Hanky Panky Business at Work

It's nice to see people on my floor have a good sense of humor! Found ole Donald Trump and Anne Coulter here going at it like the above photo, on a crate in my offices' trash room (btw, they're Barbie doll sized).

We then strategically moved the undercover lovers into the following position, as we felt it would be more realistic.

Oh Fridays, so fun!

Deadline - Post It Stop Motion

A student at SVA made this. It took 6,000 post-its to create and 4 days to film. The time and effort that went into this blow my mind. Make sure to check out the making of the video as well.

One Trend I Never Understood...

I don't get the whole goth thing, I just don't...black eyeliner tears, pvc attire, parasols, big ugly platform boots, I mean, really? I certainly make some questionable fashion choices, but they are in league of their own.

This hilarious little website, Goths In Hot Weather, really addresses a main point of confusion for us non-goths: How in the world do they survive the sun and heat of the summer?

The blog - "which celebrates the majesty of the Goth, who, eschewing any practicality whatever, still has the commitment to don a full length leather trenchcoat, stupid New Rock boots, and half a Superdrug counter of makeup. All hail the Hot Goth!" - rates photos of various goths in terms of 'Gothiness' and 'Sweatiness'. So entertaining.

The I am Pure Evil and Will Give You Nightmares for a Week Goth:

Gothiness: 9 Sweatiness: 8
This Dark Lord laughs in the face of sunshine, but his eyes! His fucking eyes have melted off!

The Creepy As Fuck Goths:

Gothiness: 10 Sweatiness: 15
Fetish Goths have it worse than everyone else when it comes to the sunshine. Fortunately they like it that way.

Mashups for Phoenix's "Lisztomania"

Ahhhh, dancing on Brooklyn rooftops...this is all I want to do, all summer long!

This gorgeously shot video is the *Brooklyn Brat Pack Mashup' for Phoenix's song Lisztomania. It's a tribute video to the 'Phoenix - Lisztomania *Brat Pack Mashup* video.

BK brat pack mashup director, Ian Parker, explained the reasoning behind the tribute to the tribute best: "We did it for the summer, for friends, sunsets, and social propaganda experiments, for the sake of global cultural education. and pop music." (via FREEwilliamsburg).

Amen to that. I seriously am in love with this video! Here's the original mashup for you to check out, it's amazing as well...
